Remember Venom from the “Spider-Man 3” movie? Well, the character is getting his own spinoff movie, apart from the superhero.

Many film projects are reboots and superhero franchises are high on the list of these reboots, simply because studios like Sony Pictures would lose their movie rights “Spider-Man.”. Overall, the studio has done relatively well with its “Spider-Man” franchise, the reboot “The Amazing Spider-Man” films included.

Now with the Spider-Man movies being rebooted for the third time, Sony is turning its attention to making a movie about the Marvel villain that will be unrelated to the “Spider-Man” reboot, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. There are many incarnations of Venom, who first appeared in the Spider-Man comics in 1988 and has been most recently incarnated as Flash Thompson, Parker’s friend and former bully.

Sony wants “Venom” to be its own franchise and not just a standalone film. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project, which will be penned by Dante Harper (“Edge of Tomorrow”).
