The CW probably got their ratings worth last night as they gave us some new “Wonder Woman” footage and debuted the first trailer for David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad.” So far, we’ve only seen some brief footage from the film, some of it having leaked during last year’s San Diego Comic Con. The trailer debuted during The CW special, “DC Films Present the Dawn of the Justice League.”

It seems the team of antagonists has now become the protagonists… sort of. Led by the powerful Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), the Suicide Squad is made up of a number of former villains who have been captured and forced to work with Waller, otherwise face death. The trailer looks dark, but also filled with some insanity and dark humor.

The large and well-know cast includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne and Karen Fukuhara.

The wait for “Suicide Squad” is over August 5, 2016.
