Actress/singer Zendaya has been confirmed to have landed a lead role in the “Spider-Man” reboot movie. The actress, most known for her role on Disney Channel’s “Shake it Up!” and her hit song “Replay,” will star alongside Tom Holland, who is playing Peter Parker.

Zendaya’s character hasn’t been specified, so there’s speculation as to who she’ll actually be playing, but it doesn’t look to be a love interest to Holland’s character, so most likely not Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy. However, her character is set to appear in any future “Spider-Man” films in this particular franchise.

Holland’s Spider-Man will make his first appearance in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” before starring in his own solo film, currently set for July 7, 2017.

Jon Watts is a directing from a script by John Francis Daley Jonathan Goldstein. The film also stars Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.
