If attending conventions like Awesome Con could be a full-time gig, then sign me up! This year, Awesome Con kicked into high gear and pulled out all the stops. In its third year, the con is now one of the biggest on the east coast, with more people attending, more (yes, I have to say it) awesome guests attending, and just more of everything. There are artists, cosplayers every which way you turn, and geeky things to buy (and it’s tempting to buy them all, believe me) all over the place.

This year was my first year attending, and it was a great experience. Registration moves smoothly, everything is beyond organized, and there are plenty of vendors and things to do to keep everyone occupied and happy. Guests this year included William Shatner, George Takei, most of the original Power Rangers cast, Arthur Darvill and Alex Kingston of Doctor Who, Kristin Bauer, and John Rhys-Davies among several others.

I was there to cover the con, enjoy the cosplayers, and even got the chance to briefly meet and snap a picture with the original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, whom my father is a huge fan of and also got to meet him (he was extremely excited!). You can check out all the pictures from Awesome Con below! It was a fantastic time and here’s to next year!
