In a man’s world, female characters usually play supporting characters and don’t get as much of a chance to shine on their own. It’s getting better, but there’s still a long way to go before great female characters won’t be looked upon as an anomaly. This year gave us some great female characters in movies, characters who kicked ass in all ways possible and who stood apart on their own merits.
This list isn’t exhaustive but highlights the majority of awesome these characters embodied in 2015. Strong, resilient, vulnerable, and smart, these characters are three-dimensional and so very human.
