‘Furious 8’ Will Race to Theaters in 2017, Vin Diesel Confirms

Vin Diesel has been the face of promoting Furious 7. He’s also been open, and very emotional, in speaking about the death of friend and co-star Paul Walker. So it’s no surprise really that Diesel was the one to confirm the news that Furious 8 will indeed become a reality at Universal’s CinemaCon panel in Las Vegas. The film will be racing into theaters on April 14, 2017.

“We were giddy and excited,” said Diesel, talking to the audience at CinemaCon about two years ago when he was onstage with Walker unveiling the news about Furious 7. “You all gave me so much confidence. There was so much love.”

Some may have assumed that the seventh installment may have been the last, due to Walker’s untimely death. But having surpassed the $1.15 billion mark worldwide for Furious 7, making it the seventh highest grossing film of all time, there was never any doubt that Universal would continue making the films due to its popularity and its profitability.
