Matthew McConaughey has confirmed with the Star Tribune that he will indeed play the lead male role in Christopher Nolan’s new film “Interstellar”. Nolan wrote and will direct the movie based on his brother Jonathan Nolan’s original script.

When asked about the role, which was reported last week, McConaughey simply stated that he’s “confirming” his role in the Sci-Fi feature.

McConaughey has not been featured in a Sci-Fi film since 1997’s “Contact” and has most recently been in a number of dramas, including the upcoming film titled “Mud” with Reese Witherspoon.

“Interstellar” will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding and is scheduled for release on November 7, 2014.
