Things must be going really well at Litchfield Penitentiary (has prison food gotten better?). Either that, or Netflix is supremely confident that “Orange is the New Black” will continue to do really well because the streaming service has renewed the show for not one, not two, but three seasons. So don’t look for your favorite characters to be leaving prison any time soon.

With three seasons already under its belt, this announcement guarantees the show will last until at least its seventh season. This news precedes the show’s upcoming season four, which will be available to stream on Friday, June 17.

The Emmy award-winning “Orange is the New Black” cast includes Taylor Schilling, Uzo Aduba, and Laura Prepon. The show most recently won a SAG award for best ensemble cast.

Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix, had this to say about the early renewal and why the show resonates with audiences:

Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both funny and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt. Audiences around the world have come to love the ladies and men of Orange is the New Black, and we are eager to see where three more seasons will take them.”
