When the 2011 Arab Spring  happened in Syria, there was someone was writing about her experiences on a blog called A Gay Girl in Damascus. Well, there’s more to the story than just the daring posts Amina Arraf wrote. Director Sophie Deraspe explores the background of Amina’s story in her documentary A Gay Girl in Damascus: The Amina Profile, which made its premiere at Sundance this past January.

The first poster and trailer for the film have been released and you can check them out below! The film hits theaters July 24, 2015.
