“The only thing food wants is to go home with us.”

Well, it’s the only thing they want until they find out what happens to them when they get home. We need to eat, after all!

“Sausage Party,” from the same group of people who brought into the world “Pineapple Express,” “This is the End” and “Neighbors,” is not for the kids, if the title alone didn’t make that abundantly clear.

One sausage named Frank (Seth Rogen) goes home with a human thinking he’s been chosen to finally leave the grocery store. His world comes to a crashing halt when he realizes that he and his friends are going to be eaten, thrown away, cooked, cut, and blended. So he sets out on a quest to save his fellow food products in the first R-rated CG animated movie.

“Sausage Party” also includes the voice talents of Kristen Wiig, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Danny McBride, and Edward Norton.

Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, with a screenplay by Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, Seth Rogen, and Ariel Shaffir, “Sausage Party” hits theaters August 12, 2016.
