After Star Trek Into Darkness (which seemed to fall into either the “liked it” or “meh” category with die-hard fans) ended with the Enterprise crew venturing into space on their five-year mission, the rebooted film series finally looks to be boldly going “where no man has gone before.”

Taking over from J.J. Abrams, who has moved on to directing the upcoming and highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Justin Lin, director of many of The Fast and the Furious series, is steering the proverbial ship that is Star Trek Beyond in a new direction. And if the first teaser trailer is any indication, it will certainly go beyond what we’ve seen in the previous two films.

Star Trek Beyond is the third installment in the rebooted timeline and the 13th film in the popular series. The trailer is jam-packed with action, fun dialogue, and a new energy, all set to some rock music to get everyone pumped. 2016 will be the long-running franchise’s 50-year anniversary, so the new film is just in time to celebrate.

The film stars returning actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, as well as newcomers Idris Elba, playing a currently unknown character, and Sofia Boutella. Noticeably absent is Alice Eve, who played Carol Marcus and the newest crew member of the Enterprise.

Watch the teaser trailer below and mark your calendars to head to space on July 22, 2016.
