Jennifer Lawrence is now on what I like to personally call the David O. Russell train of films. Joy, which documents the story of Joy Mangano, a single mother to three children struggling to make ends meet who suddenly finds herself in the business limelight as the inventor of the Miracle Mop. The film marks the third collaboration with David O. Russell, the first two being Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, the former winning Lawrence a Best Actress Oscar.

This is also Lawrence’s fourth collaboration o a film with Bradley Cooper. Reteaming with Robert De Niro, who is now playing Lawrence’s father (he played Bradley Cooper’s father in Silver Linings Playbook), the film looks to be slightly more serious than the last two Russell films.

The first trailer has been released and Lawrence looks to be packing in another powerhouse performance. Joy will hit theaters this Christmas, a month after Lawrence takes her final rebellious stance as Katniss in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
