Eddie Redmayne has proven to be a remarkable actor. After winning an Oscar for his performance in last year’s The Theory of Everything playing acclaimed scientist Stephen Hawking, Redmayne is making a different kind of transition in this year’s already very buzzed about film The Danish Girl.
Directed by Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech), with a screenplay by Lucinda Coxon (Wild Target), the film follows the lives of Lili Elbe (Redmayne) and Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander, Ex Machina) through marriage and their changing, but solid relationship as Lili journeys to become a transgender pioneer.
The official trailer is here and it looks fantastic. Brimming with emotion, hardship, and perseverance, The Danish Girl will most definitely make a big splash and is on my must-watch list for this fall.
Also starring Ben Whishaw, Sebastian Koch, Amber Heard, Matthias Schoenaerts and based on the book David Ebershoff, The Danish Girl hits LA and NY theaters November 27, with a national release in December.
